Getting greasy hair often can be really frustrating. If you're here to find a solution you've come to the right place! Making these simple changes to your haircare routine will ultimately keep your greasy hair under control.
The first step to banishing greasy hair is understanding why hair gets oily and what causes it. Our scalp produces a natural oil called sebum which is very important to the health of our scalp and hair as it keeps it healthy and moisturised. There are a handful of potential factors why your hair could be getting greasy, these could be down to hormonal changes, build up of too much product in your hair or not washing your hair properly.
Whilst sebum is there to protect your scalp, keeping your hair greasy for a long time can in-fact cause dandruff and or hair loss as the scalp is unable to breathe.
What products are best for greasy hair?
The best products for oily hair are natural, gentle and cleansing, products.
Starting with shampoo, washing your hair with shampoo is a crucial step to reducing greasy hair, it cleanses the scalp, removes any excess oil and freshens up you hair. Although you want to remove the excess oil, you want to do so using a gentle product rather than using a shampoo containing harsh ingredients that may strip your hair moisture completely, which will ultimately encourage your scalp to produce sebum even faster. We suggest cleansing your hair using an all natural, paraben, silcone and sulphate free shampoo.
How to wash greasy hair?
CLABAUX HAIR FUTURE-FORWARD WASH:
- Brush your hair before you start.
- Rinse the hair well before applying the shampoo
- Apply the shampoo and massage
- Rinse well and re-apply the shampoo and rinse well again.
- Apply conditioner 5cm from the roots.
Often people only wash their hair once, it’s really important to wash your hair twice every time to make sure your scalp and hair is super clean. Doing this means you should go an extra day without washing.
I also recommend using water at a moderate temperature, using really hot or cold water triggers the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum. This is the same when it comes to styling, avoid too much heat for the same reason.
